World Hepatitis Day 2018 in Mongolia

Dr. Tatsuya Yamashita attended to the World Hepatitis Day (WHD) event hosted by WHO.
The event was convened at Sükhbaatar Square, Ulan Bator, Mongolia.
Representatives from Mongolian government, WHO headquarters, WHO West Pacific region and WHO collaborating centres relevant to hepatitis were attended to the event. Also, representatives from World Hepatitis Alliance (WHA) and Asian Liver Center (Stanford University) attended as organizations relevant to hepatitis.
The event was started from greeting of Mongolian government. Next, WHO Director General sent a video message, and Assistant Directors-General - HIV/AIDS, TB, Malaria and Neglected Tropical Diseases and Regional director - WHO West-pacific region made the memorial greetings. After that all invited persons were introduced at special site in the square.
The theme of WHD 2018 is “Test, Treat. Hepatitis.”
In the square, the tent for free-test was set and rapid detection test for hepatitis, fibroscan and ultrasonography was performed in the tent. Many persons waited for the test in long line and need to arrange by police.
We visited to the suburban health center to view their activity including house visit afternoon.
The evening invitation party was successful with Mongolian cheers, music and dance.
